Vauxhall Movano-e large electric van gets bigger battery for 2022

The Movano-e sits above the Vivaro-e and Combo-e; for 2022, its battery size has been increased from 70 to 75kWh, giving an extra 15 miles of range

Vauxhall Movano-e

The Vauxhall Movano-e launched in late 2021, but has now been upgraded with a bigger battery for 2022. The large electric van sits above the Vivaro-e and Combo-e in the British brand’s LCV line-up, rivalling the likes of the Fiat e-Ducato, Renault Master E-TECH and Mercedes eSprinter.

The Movano-e's new 75kWh battery promises a 154mile range – a 15-mile increase on the old 70kWh battery. Power and torque remain at 118bhp and 260Nm respectively, generated by a single electric motor. Vauxhall has also made improvements to the Movano-e's charging hardware, so topping up from 0 to 80% capacity using a 22kW three-phase charger will now take four hours, as opposed to eight previously.

Unlike its rivals from Fiat and Renault, the Movano-e is only available in panel-van form and in two body lengths: L3 and L4. That's enough for a maximum cargo volume of up to 17 cubic metres – the same as the latest diesel Movano – and the maximum payload of 2,110kg is also identical to what the diesel can manage.

The Movano-e is exclusively available in Dynamic trim, with prices starting from £57,913 for the L3 body and £58,813 for the L4 version (excluding VAT, but after the government's plug-in van grant has been deducted). As a zero-emissions vehicle, it' exempt from the London Congestion Charge and other clean-air zone fees.

On top of the DAB radio, sliding door, full steel bulkhead and seatbelt reminders in other models, you also get Bluetooth, a tablet holder inside the glovebox and a foldable, rotating tray. The Movano-e also incorporates safety systems such as a pedestrian detection rear warning sound and rear parking assistance, as well as rear-view camera, blind-spot warning and lane-departure warning.
