SEAT Mii electric (2020-2021) reliability & safety

The Mii electric's small size and spartan kit mean safety ratings aren't the best, but there should be little to go wrong

While its relatively low Euro NCAP score and as-yet-unproven drivetrain might be a concern, it's not worth being put off the Mii electric. SEAT's VW connections mean you can be confident that a high level of engineering and troubleshooting has taken place ahead of the car going on sale to ensure its reliability, while our experience with previous SEAT products has been broadly positive. A decent showing in the Driver Power survey for its other models also bodes well.

SEAT Mii electric reliability & problems

We've no doubt that the Mii electric will be a reliable car; while neither it nor its conventionally powered sibling made it into the 2020 Driver Power survey, SEAT itself achieved a mid-table 14th-place finish out of 30 brands overall, with a 17.4% average share of owners reporting a fault with their cars. Build quality was rated averagely, but in our experience it's not too far behind that of Skoda and Volkswagen.

Safety

The Mii is one of the smaller cars on sale and as such can't quite match the impressive safety features and ratings of fully grown superminis. It makes a good effort at passive crash safety, however, with 81% and 83% scores for adult and child occupant safety respectively. A relative lack of active safety systems pulls the overall score down to three out of a possible five stars, however.
