Suzuki Swace hybrid costs, insurance, warranty & tax
In terms of running costs, the Swace is good news for company-car users and private buyers alike – but a plug-in or fully electric car might be even better

Much like the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports, the Swace is an inexpensive car to run. While there's still a case for higher-mileage users to pick a diesel and for lower-mileage, urban-based users to go for a car with a plug, the Swace represents a happy medium that still brings cheaper road tax, lower company-car costs and rock-solid dependability.
Suzuki Swace hybrid insurance group
The Swace sits in insurance group 20 or 21 depending on which trim level you opt for. At first glance, this is more or less on par with its like-for-like Toyota counterparts; however, while the Swace SZ5 sits in the same bracket as the Corolla Excel, the Toyota features a more powerful engine.
Warranty
This is another point of difference between the otherwise broadly similar cars – Toyota buyers benefit from a five-year/100,000-mile warranty, while owners of the Suzuki only get cover up to 60,000 miles during the same period. It's worth bearing in mind if you're planning long-term ownership – we'd suggest going for the Toyota if that is the case.
Servicing
It's not clear yet how the Swace's servicing costs will stack up when compared to the Corolla's, but Suzuki offers payment plans to help spread the cost. Prices for parts and labour are fixed for up to three years and are calculated based on the size of your car and the number of miles you travel in a year.
Road tax
Just as with the Corolla and other hybrid models the Swace costs £145 a year to tax from the second year of ownership onwards. There's no risk of exceeding the £40,000 surcharge threshold.
