Vauxhall Corsa Electric price cut makes it cheaper than a petrol Corsa
Vauxhall is now giving prospective buyers the chance to own a Corsa or Mokka EV for lower monthly payments than the petrol variants
With electric cars seemingly becoming more affordable every week, Vauxhall now offers its Corsa and Mokka electric cars at prices comparable to their petrol counterparts – and in some cases, even lower.
Over a five-year Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) finance offer, customers now have the ability to finance a Vauxhall Corsa or Mokka EV at a price that’s the same or less than the equivalent petrol model. It's important to note, however, that the electric car deal runs over five years instead of the petrol car’s four, meaning customers will pay for an additional year.
For instance, the Corsa Electric YES Edition is available from £251 per month over the specified five years, compared to £274 per month for the petrol variant over four years. Similarly, the Mokka Electric Griffin is priced at £286 per month, undercutting the petrol version at £318 per month.
Key to these offers is a low APR interest rate of 2.9 per cent, applicable to all Vauxhall EV deals, compared to 8.9 per cent for petrol models. Customers are required to provide a £2,000 deposit, but Vauxhall sweetens the deal with substantial deposit contributions on certain models.
The biggest deposit contribution you can expect is with the Vauxhall Corsa Electric Design, with £7,450 included, while you can also get the Mokka Griffin with a £4,590 contribution. Buyers interested in the Vauxhall Astra can expect to receive a £3,000 deposit contribution on the Design trim, which results in the petrol Astra costing the same amount each month as the EV.
Moreover, customers opting for higher-end models such as the GS and Ultimate variants of the Corsa, Mokka and Astra Electric will find price parity with the petrol counterparts. It's worth noting that these deals do not factor-in potential fuel or running cost savings associated with electric vehicles over the loan period.
These offers, valid until the end of June, also include additional incentives for EV customers. Vauxhall is offering a free home wallbox charger or one year’s free credit (up to a maximum of 5,900 miles) at Tesco charging points. Alternatively, buyers can opt for £675 of Octopus Electroverse credit, redeemable at various public charging networks.
