EV Deal of the Day: sharp-looking MG4 EV for £187 per month

The MG4 EV is an impressive all-electric family hatchback, offering a decent range, plenty of tech and useful practicality

  • Comfortable
  • Good to drive
  • 281-mile range

The MG4 EV is proof that you don’t have to pay a huge amount of money for a truly capable all-electric car. Its sharply styled exterior certainly draws you in, but you’ll find the MG’s spacious cabin and generous level of standard kit equally impressive. Throw in solid efficiency and a practical range, and the MG4 is an easy EV to recommend.

We previously covered a deal for the MG4 EV SE model back in July, but today’s offer is cheaper and brings even greater value because it’s for the SE Long Range variant. The three-year PCH (Personal Contract Hire) deal is from VIP Gateway Leasing through Carwow, and requires an initial payment of £2,546.70, followed by monthly payments of just £187.31. However, do check that the 5,000-mile annual limit is right for your particular needs.

The SE Long Range model comes with a great level of standard equipment, including 17-inch alloys, LED headlights, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, climate control, and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s lots of safety kit too, with systems such as lane-keep assist, active emergency braking and a driver-attention alert all part of the package.

You’ll find plenty of room for passengers in the rear, along with some practical storage options. There’s a useful cubby up front with a sliding lid, plus a deep bin that sits below the central armrest, along with a large pocket on the back of each front seat, with two smaller pouches that could be used for passengers' smartphones.

With a healthy 201bhp, the MG4 SE Long Range manages 0-62mph in 7.7 seconds, which should be enough pace for most tastes. More important is MG’s claim that it should be able to cover a maximum range of up to 281 miles (WLTP combined), and if you need to stop at a public charger to top up the battery, a 10 to 80 per cent charge will take around 35 minutes.
