Ford Mustang Mach-E review: interior, dashboard & comfort

It's not the last word in luxury inside, but the Mach-E does get an interesting interior design and plenty of up-to-date on-board technology

In keeping with the exterior, the inside of the Mustang Mach-E is quite a departure from what we've seen in other Fords to date, with a pretty minimalist approach and the vast majority of functions displayed on one of two large screens. Quality is generally good, although there are a handful of cheap-looking-and-feeling plastics which act as a reminder that you're not in a premium offering such as a Audi Q4 e-tron.

The Mustang Mach-E's dashboard is certainly interesting for anyone who's just stepped out of one of the brand's more conventional family cars, even if it isn't quite as radical as what Tesla has been producing for the past few years. The huge portrait-orientated touchscreen (more on this below) is one Tesla-esque feature, however – it'll certainly be amongst the first things you notice as soon as you step inside.

Equipment, options & accessories

There are currently three versions of the electric Mustang to choose from, and all come pretty well equipped. The Select trim is only available with the rear-driven Standard Range powertrain and comes fully-equipped with a 10.2-inch digital instrument panel, 15.5-inch portrait infotainment touchscreen, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, 18-inch alloys, a wireless phone-charging pad, dual-zone climate control and a 360-degree reversing camera system.

Extended Range models are only available in Premium spec; not only does this net you a larger battery with more range, but you also benefit from 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights, and electric seats with red contrast stitching. Finally, there's the top-of-the-range Mustang Mach-E GT, which produces 480bhp and can do 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds. This version also comes with loads of kit including adaptive ‘MagneRide 2’ suspension, a fixed panoramic sunroof, even larger 20-inch alloys, figure-hugging sports seats, a Bang & Olufsen sound system and a hands-free powered bootlid.

Infotainment, apps & sat nav

The Mustang Mach-E gets the latest evolution of Ford's 'SYNC' in-car infotainment system. It boasts sharp graphics and a highly configurable 'home' screen, and is generally pretty easy to use. There's also wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, should you prefer to use your own phone apps for music and navigation. Our one gripe is that the big 15.5-inch screen could do with being angled towards the driver, as it can be tricky to see and operate some functions at the bottom of the screen at times.
