Vauxhall Mokka Electric review: interior, dashboard & comfort

There are some cheaper materials and the infotainment can be a tad laggy, but the Mokka’s interior is ergonomic and well-equipped nonetheless

The Mokka Electric’s interior is dominated by the ‘Pure Panel’ infotainment setup featuring a central infotainment screen and digital driver’s display. Other than that, the cabin is the same as in its petrol and diesel-engined counterparts. For some, it may be disappointing that the Mokka Electric doesn’t feel like a futuristic electric car inside. But for others, especially those picking their first electric car, this will be more familiar.

It looks like Vauxhall has taken a bit of inspiration from Mercedes' latest interiors for the Mokka Electric's Pure Panel infotainment system. It's slightly reminiscent of the latest MBUX infotainment system in the A-Class and other models, but Vauxhall’s doesn’t system doesn’t quite stack up against them.

As opposed to the Volkswagen ID.3 or Volkswagen ID.4, the Mokka Electric still features plenty of physical buttons and switches for you to control the car’s various functions. It might not be as futuristic, but for some it'll be easier to operate than haptic feedback sliders in other electric cars.

Overall, the Mokka Electric’s interior quality is good. There are a few hard plastics around the cabin, but Vauxhall has done well to make sure there are softer, more tactile materials in the places you're most likely to lay your hands. The shiny black trim is the only option available, which looks good to begin with, but is a real fingerprint and scratch magnet.

Equipment, options & accessories

The Mokka Electric is available in two trim levels: GS and Ultimate. A panoramic rear-view camera, keyless go, a dual-screen infotainment system – more on that later – plus 18-inch wheels, a contrasting black roof, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and keyless entry are standard on the GS Line. Ultimate lives up to its name with plush leather and Alcantara upholstery, Matrix LED headlights and a handful of extra driver aids.

Infotainment, apps & sat nav

While entry-level petrol versions of the Vauxhall Mokka get smaller screens, all Electric variants get the top-of-the-range setup which comprises a 12-inch driver’s display, alongside a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen. These run Vauxhall’s IntelliLink software which can be rather slow to respond and isn’t quite as intuitive as the Google-based system found in the Renault Megane E-Tech. Regardless, most buyers will just connect their smartphone and make use of the Mokka’s Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
