New Peugeot e-3008 electric SUV to offer 435-mile range
Peugeot’s first bespoke EV will be available with all-wheel drive and is due to be revealed later this year

Peugeot has announced it will launch five new electric cars over the next two years alone, including the all-new, all-electric Peugeot e-3008 SUV, which will be revealed in the second half of 2023.
The next-generation of Peugeot’s stylish 3008 family SUV will use the brand-new STLA Medium platform that’ll eventually serve as the underpinnings for EVs from Jeep and Maserati, too. This will also make it the first electric-only Peugeot.
The e-3008 is due to be offered with a choice of three powertrain options – including a dual-motor version with four-wheel drive – and, Peugeot says, will be able to cover up to 434 miles on a single charge.
An electric version of the seven-seat Peugeot 5008 SUV, called the e-5008 will follow shortly after and is expected to use the same running gear as the e-3008.
However, the first two models to arrive will be the new e-308 and e-308 SW that were revealed in September 2022 and are due to go on sale very soon. The electric hatchback and estate are based on the same EMP2 platform as their plug-in hybrid counterparts, but are powered by a 156bhp electric motor and 54kWh battery.
According to Peugeot, the e-308 twins will cover over 248 miles on a charge, while a 20-80% top-up should take less than half an hour from a rapid charger.
Peugeot e-408 due in 2023
The new e-408 fastback saloon, due to arrive later this year as well, will use the same underpinnings as the e-308s and we expect the same running gear, too. It’ll probably offer a shorter range though, due to its larger size and less aerodynamic shape. If so, that would put it far behind potential rivals like the recently updated Polestar 2, which can now cover between 322 and 395 miles before needing to be recharged.
The new EV line-up is part of Peugeot’s E-Lion project which consists of three main targets: by the end of this year, all of the brand’s models will feature an electrified powertrain (either hybrid, plug-in hybrid or fully electric). Then, by 2025 every Peugeot will be available as an EV, before the French firm moves to only sell electric cars across Europe by 2030.
