Ford Kuga Hybrid interior & comfort

While standard equipment in the Kuga is good, its interior continues to lack the flair or personality it needs to liven it up and keep up with rivals

Much like the plug-in hybrid version of the Kuga, the full hybrid lacks the sense of personality that other models in this class offer. Quality in Kuga is still good, with the cheaper-feeling plastics hidden away and everything you touch regularly feeling well damped and sturdily screwed together.

While it may be logically laid out and boast strong build quality, the Kuga lacks the flair you find in some of its rivals that can liven up an interior. In better news, all Kuga FHEV models come with Ford’s fantastic 12.3-inch digital driver’s display.

Equipment, options & accessories

All Kuga FHEV models come as standard with a Bang & Olufsen 10-speaker audi system, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and an eight-inch infotainment screen, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, as well as hands-free tailgate and selectable driving modes.

The Kuga Hybrid is available in three trim levels: ST-Line Edition, ST-Line X Edition and Vignale. ST-Line Edition comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, the ST-Line styling kit and sports seats. ST-Line X Edition builds on that with 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, heated seats and a heated steering wheel. The Vignale comes as standard with different exterior styling, 19-inch alloys, a leather interior and a 10-way adjustable driver’s seat.

The options list includes a driver’s assistance pack, which brings adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, active parking assistance and a front-facing camera. The technology pack includes upgraded LED headlights and a head-up display. You can upgrade to 20-inch alloy wheels if you choose the ST-Line X Edition trim, and you can add a retractable tow bar on all models.

Infotainment, apps & sat nav

As mentioned above, all Kuga Hybrids get an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen that features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto if you prefer using your smartphone’s apps over Ford’s. The system is good, as responsiveness is quick and the graphics are decent, but the size of the unit itself is our biggest gripe; it isn’t as big as what’s on offer in the Kuga FHEV’s rivals.
