EV Deal of the Day: get into the new Ford Capri for just £247 a month

The all-electric Ford Capri is more of a refined cruiser than sporty SUV, but it impresses with a smooth ride and some clever technology

  • Impressive interior
  • Smooth powertrains
  • Good refinement

Okay, the name continues to be divisive and, let's face it, the Ford Capri’s looks certainly won't appeal to everyone. But if you can skip past these (albeit quite important) issues, you’ll find a very capable mid-size family SUV

Although the Capri isn’t particularly sporty or fun to drive, it does offer strong straight-line performance, which is ultimately what most buyers of mainstream SUVs will judge it on. Throw in a stylish, roomy interior, lots of onboard technology and solid safety credentials, and the Capri is definitely worth considering - although whether it offers the right kind of kerb appeal is a more subjective issue.

This two-year PCH (Personal Contract Hire) offer is from Carparison Leasing through Carwow, requiring an initial deposit of £3,268.20, followed by monthly payments of £247.45 There’s a 5,000-mile annual limit, which should be enough to cover most day-to-day journeys, although it’s important to be sure that this will meet your motoring needs, otherwise you might have to pay excess-mileage charges.

The Capri Select model comes with an impressive specification, including 19-inch alloys, automatic LED headlights, rear privacy glass, keyless entry and start, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, heated front seats (with 12-way electric adjustment and massage function for the driver’s seat), a wireless smartphone charging pad, and a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Buyers will also benefit from the rear-wheel-drive Capri’s impressive all-electric range; its 77kWh battery and single electric motor set-up provides a claimed 389 miles from a single charge, which means any longer journeys should be straightforward and easy to plan. There’s plenty of performance, too, with a total power output of 282bhp and 0-62mph covered in 6.4 seconds.

Ford has ensured that the Capri comes with a good level of onboard safety tech, including a Lane Keeping Aid with a Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition and a Wrong Way Alert. These systems helped the Capri achieve a maximum five-star rating from industry safety experts, Euro NCAP.
