EV Deal of the Day: quirky Citroen e-C4 X for £224 per month

Offering impressive levels of comfort and plenty of standard kit, the all-electric Citroen e-C4 X is well worth a look

  • Well equipped
  • Comfortable
  • Distinctive style

It may look like a funkily styled hatchback, but the Citroen e-C4 X is actually a stylish saloon – a slightly longer version of its e-C4 sibling that comes with a bigger 510-litre boot. A focus on comfort and ease-of-use makes the e-C4 X a simple daily driver, whether covering shorter urban routes, or longer motorway journeys. True, you won’t find it particularly engaging to drive, but if you don’t fancy following the continuing SUV trend, then this reasonably practical and well equipped French family car is worth considering.

This two-year PCH (Personal Contract Hire) deal is from Xcite Leasing through Carwow, and requires an initial payment of £2,962.37, followed by monthly payments of just £224.36, while there is a 5,000-mile annual limit.

The top-of-the-range e-series model offered in this particular deal comes with an impressive level of standard equipment, including 18-inch alloys, LED headlights, a black contrast roof, a reversing camera, dual-zone air-conditioning, upgraded Alcantara upholstery, a heating function for the front seats and steering wheel, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and a 10-inch infotainment display with integrated navigation and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Interior space in the e-C4 X is fine, although the car’s swooping roofline may be a problem for taller passengers in the rear seats. Overall practicality is good, however, with plenty of storage cubbies and cup-holders, plus useful features such as a height and reach-adjustable steering wheel, heated power-folding door mirrors, and automatic headlights and wipers.

With its 50kWh battery and single electric motor providing 134bhp, the e-C4 X manages 0-62mph in 10.0 seconds, while Citroen claims a maximum range of 217-219 miles (WLTP) across a mixture of roads – although it’s worth noting that you’ll struggle to reach that in colder, more wintry conditions.
