Kia XCeed PHEV interior & comfort

It won't wow you with its design, but the XCeed hybrid's interior is solidly built, well laid-out and filled with impressive in-car technology

The interior of the Kia XCeed PHEV probably won't be the reason you buy this car, but equally it won't put you off buying it either. There's little in the way of stylish design inside, however everything is where you'd expect it to be and there's a real sense of solidity and quality, reminiscent of the best German rivals.

Kia's focus on a logical layout and ease of use mean a large 10-inch touchscreen to control many of the car's systems, slightly angled towards the driver. It may not have the initial 'wow' factor of a Tesla portrait-style display, but once you start using it, you'll find it's one of the best in-car systems on the market: intuitive and quick to respond.

Equipment, options & accessories

When it first went on sale, the XCeed PHEV was offered in rather pricey 'First Edition' trim, packing in kit like 17-inch alloys, a panoramic sunroof, leather seats and a digital driver display. Once those cars have sold out, though, the car will solely be available in the 3 trim level, which is actually better value for what you get.

Standard kit here comprises 16-inch alloys, privacy glass and smart key technology, plus cloth and faux-leather seats that are heated, as is the steering wheel. And in common with all XCeeds, hybrid or otherwise, you get the good looks that grace the whole Ceed range, with a bit of extra cladding and a slightly raised ride height.

Infotainment, apps & sat nav

As mentioned above, we really rate Kia's infotainment system and find it a joy to use. The XCeed comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and will display your phone's output across the whole screen, which many other cars don’t do. Elsewhere, Kia’s telematics system means you can connect your car to your smartphone and monitor charging and other settings remotely.
