EV Deal of the Day: luxury Lexus RZ for only £284 per month

If you’re after a plush and practical all-electric SUV, then this Lexus RZ deal offers great value for money

Lexus RZ - front cornering
  • Comfortable
  • Refined
  • Good standard equipment

Look past the usual suspects from Audi, BMW and Mercedes, and you’ll find Lexus is right up there with a deserved reputation for building luxury cars that major on comfort, refinement and the latest technology. Admittedly, Lexus isn’t the class leader in terms of driver engagement and fun-to-be-had from behind the wheel, but if you’re looking for something suitably premium to waft around in, then it’s definitely worth considering.

The deal we’ve found here is a two-year PCH (Personal Contract Hire) offer from Leasing Options, through our parent site Carwow. It’s for a Lexus RZ 450e model in Premium specification which, although an entry trim level, still comes packed with kit. An initial payment of £3,706.79 is required, followed by reasonable instalments of £284 each month, while there’s an annual mileage limit of 5,000 miles.

The Premium specification features 18-inch alloys, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic glass sunroof, a remote climate control function, an automatic tailgate, a wireless smartphone charger, and a 14-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Lexus also offers a wealth of active safety kit with the RZ, including radar-controlled cruise control, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, Lane Change Assist, and front rear pedestrian detection.

Out on the road, the RZ is a comfortable and relaxing place in which to spend time. Refinement is good whether you’re on shorter journeys in and around town, or at faster speeds on the motorway. Overall visibility is fine, too, although we found that the lack of a rear wiper is a rare oversight from Lexus in ensuring that you have everything you need to make serene progress.

If you need your car to act as the family wheels, then the RZ should be more than practical enough. The 522-litre boot has a wide opening and no load lip to overcome when packing your luggage, while the storage well below the boot floor gives you a separate space to house the charging cables, which is particularly handy during winter months when they may become wet and grimy.

With a total output of 309bhp, the RZ is capable of 0-62mph in a lively 5.3 seconds, which should be enough performance for most, while a maximum range of around 270 miles isn’t the best in its class, but again should be fine unless you regularly have to drive longer distances.
