Skoda Citigoᵉ iV: prices, specs and details

The new Skoda Citigoᵉ iV arrives with up to 170 miles of range, priced from £16,995

The new Skoda Citigoᵉ iV electric city car will cost from £16,995 in the UK when it goes on sale on 10 December, a figure which includes the Government's £3,500 plug-in car discount.

Two trims will be available: an entry-level SE model with climate-control air-conditioning, a DAB radio and a steering wheel and handbrake finished in leather.

The top-spec SE L version is priced from £19,315 and adds 16-inch alloy wheels, interior ambient lighting, a comfort pack with heated front seats and rear parking sensors, plus body-coloured door mirrors and handles.

It also introduces CCS rapid-charging capability of up to 40kW, resulting in a 0-80% charging time of around an hour. A 7.2kW home wallbox should deliver the same top-up in four hours 15 minutes, according to Skoda, while a 3.6kW connection will have the Citigoᵉ iV charged fully in 12 hours 37 minutes.

With a full battery, both versions of the car are capable of up to 170 miles of driving. Regardless of spec, drivers can use the Skoda Connect app to operate the climate-control and monitor the status of the battery remotely.

An electric motor produces 82bhp, resulting in a leisurely 0-62mph figure of 12.5 seconds and a top speed of 81mph.

Subtle exterior changes help the Citigoᵉ iV stand out from petrol-powered versions of the car: the grille shares the colour of the bodywork, while the bumper beneath it has been redesigned. The charging port is located at the back of the car, above the right rear wheelarch.

Announcing the car earlier this year, Skoda promised that LED daytime running lights, a lane-keeping assistance system, climate control and a 'Move&Fun' smartphone dock – allowing mobiles to be used as sat navs and media players – would be standard features.

Entry-level cars get 14-inch steel wheels as standard, with the option of upgrading to 16-inch alloys that are standard on the top-of-the-range model. Customers also get four standard colours to choose from – Candy White, Tornado Red, Sunflower Yellow and Kiwi Green – with addition metallic finishes optional.

At 3,957mm long and 1,645mm wide, the Skoda Citigoᵉ iV harbours 250 litres of boot space. This rises to 923 litres with the seats folded down.

The Skoda Citigoᵉ iV is closely related to the Volkswagen e-up! and SEAT Mii electric; like its sister models, the Citigoᵉ iV is due to be delivered to customers early in 2020.
