Karma Revero GTE: First fully electric model from US brand confirmed

Sales in China and Europe targeted for late 2021

American electrified car company Karma has announced its first pure-electric model, called the Revero GTE, which will launch in early 2021.

A development of the brand's three previous Revero models (including the GTS, pictured above), which have all been hybrids or range-extenders, the Revero GTE will initially be offered in two versions, promising 200 and 300-mile driving ranges respectively.

The entry-level 200-mile car will have a 75kWh battery, with the 300-mile model upping the battery size to 100kWh. An 80% charge should be possible in under 30 minutes using a 150kW rapid charger, while Karma says the car will accelerate from 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds.

Sales of the first two versions – which will be hand-assembled at Karma's facility in Irvine, California – are scheduled to begin in the US in spring 2021, with late 2021 being targeted for expansion to China and Europe. An additional model, offering up to 400 miles of range, will follow later in 2021.

The Revero GTE is to be built on the company's 'E-Flex' vehicle platform, which it's also offering to other companies under license as a basis for fully electric vehicle designs.

Commenting on the GTE news, Karma's vice president of powertrain Vlad Kalika said: "The GTE adds diversity to our growing product range, and ushers in a new era of pure all-electric technology – something we are proud to offer both our customers and the mobility industry."

Around this time last year, Karma revealed a two-door coupe version of the Revero designed by Pininfarina, called the Karma GT. It's not known if there are any plans to turn this into a production model.
