Audi e-tron GT vs Porsche Taycan 4S: space and practicality

Neither car is exceptionally practical, but additional boot space up front and comfortable seating count in their favour

Audi e-tron GT vs Porsche Taycan

Both the Audi and the Porsche are more practical than you might expect at first glance, thanks to them having an extra 84 litres of luggage storage space in the nose. It’s a good place to keep the charging cables, seeing as the main boot at the rear only holds just over 400 litres of luggage in both cars, and has minimal underfloor storage. The rear seats do split 40:20:40 and fold down, for occasionally carrying longer or larger items.

For rear-seat passengers, there’s no getting away from the fact taller adults will feel a bit cramped in the back of either the Porsche or the Audi. Their seats are comfortable and supportive, but leg and headroom are on the tight side. Occupants will appreciate the twin USB slots on offer in the centre console of both cars, while the e-tron GT does slightly better than the Taycan when it comes to storage areas around the rear seats, too.

While a conventional large saloon car can usually carry five adults at a push, it’s not really an option with either of these models. They’re four-seaters as standard, although you can add a central rear seat at extra cost. We wouldn’t bother, though; it’s so small as to be almost useless, with anyone other than a small child likely to feel pretty uncomfortable on all but the shortest journeys.
