Renault Arkana E-TECH Hybrid boot space, seating & practicality

The Arkana is unusual in the sense that it offers decent practicality, including a good-sized boot, despite a rakish roofline

Coupe-SUVs sometimes get a bad rap for having a more cramped cabin than their conventional SUV counterparts – while costing more to buy. Thankfully, that isn’t the case with the Arkana, which boasts a fairly spacious interior and has plenty of boot space on offer.

Renault Arkana E-TECH Hybrid interior space, storage & comfort

Storage-wise, you get space in the centre console to place your phone, conveniently under the USB ports you’ll need to plug into if you want to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. You also get two cupholders up front, and decent-sized door bins all round.

While the centre console and gear selector are quite raised up, it doesn’t feel cramped in the cockpit of the Arkana. However, while there's a good amount of headroom in the rear – surprising for a car with such a dramatic roofline – the same cannot be said for kneeroom, especially if the driver is around the six-foot mark. Overall, the amount of space on offer in the Arkana is ideal for couples and families with younger children.

Boot space

Despite its sloping roofline, the Arkana doesn’t lose that much boot space compared to the more conventional Captur it's closely related to. While the full-hybrid Captur has up to 440 litres of boot space with the rear seats pushed forward, the Arkana boasts 480 litres. Put the seats down, and the Arkana still has a higher load capacity of 1,263 litres, compared to Captur’s 1,149.
