Doh! Facelifted Genesis GV60 accidentally leaked in promotional video

The updated Genesis coupe-SUV gets restyled front end and could have a longer electric range

In yet another slip of the finger by a manufacturer, the facelifted Genesis GV60 has become the next car to be accidentally leaked online.

Following leaks of both the Jeep Wagoneer S and Lancia Ypsilon, the updated Genesis GV60 was accidentally shown in the background of a company video, designed to introduce the brand’s new partner, Jacky Ickx – a six-time winner of the famous Le Mans 24-hour race.

The video has since been taken down but as you can see from these hastily-gathered images, the new Genesis GV60 will get a mildly resculpted front end, with slightly more aggressive air intakes at the sides. We can also see that the GV60 will get a different LED headlight signature; shots of the rear of the facelifted GV60 show its tailights will remain the same, however.

We weren’t shown the inside of the facelifted Genesis GV60, but we expect this to receive some minor changes over the outgoing model. The facelifted G80 won’t be coming to the UK, yet it’s possible that its new sweeping 27-inch infotainment system could make an appearance in the new GV60.

Undoubtedly the biggest change we expect to come to the updated Genesis GV60 will be that of the larger battery as seen in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. With a capacity of 84kWh, this could provide a range in excess of 350 miles; in comparison, the current car utilises a 77.4kWh unit, which is enough for a maximum of 321 miles on a charge. The GV60 already has one of the fastest charging rates of any EVs, able to top up from 10-80% in just 18 minutes thanks to 220kW DC ultra-rapid charging.

Of course, much of this is just speculation for the moment. Genesis released a statement saying: “We appreciate the recent enthusiasm and speculation about potential updates to our product lineup. While specific details can’t be provided at this time, we look forward to sharing more information at the appropriate time.”

With this in mind, we don’t expect to hear much about the facelifted GV60 for a little while – it’ll probably be revealed towards the end of 2024. When it does go on sale, you can bet the new car will be slightly more expensive than the one it replaces, which starts from £54,105. It’ll continue its rivalry with other coupe-SUVs like the Volkswagen ID.5, as well as more premium options like the Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron and BMW iX2.
