LEVC L380 is an ultra-luxurious electric MPV from the people behind the London Taxi

London taxi maker, LEVC, has just built a luxury electric people carrier destined for the Chinese market

From panoramic glass roofs to heated seats London hackney carriages are now plusher than ever. However, the maker of the iconic TX London taxi, LEVC (London Electric Vehicle Company), has now decided to take things a step further and break into the luxury MPV sector with this: the all-new, all-electric eight-seater LEVC L380.

The L380 is set to become the first vehicle to be based on parent company Geely’s SOA platform which, according to LEVC, can facilitate a range of up to 431 miles. To get as close to this figure as possible, LEVC’s posh people carrier will get a huge 120kWh battery, with a smaller 73kWh model also available as an entry point into the line-up. Rear and four-wheel-drive models will be offered, although we doubt any version of the LEVC L380 will be able to get close to the SOA platform’s maximum range figure, mainly due to the MPV’s boxy and therefore aerodynamically inefficient shape.

LEVC is yet to provide any pictures of the inside of the L380, although it has said its latest model will be available with six, seven and eight seat configurations. On the outside, the L380 looks very different to its TX sibling, with a relatively clean and unexceptional design, featuring an LED light bar at the front.

The L380 is confirmed to go on sale in China in 2024 and LEVC has said it will eventually go on sale in “additional markets” – it remains tight-lipped as to whether that includes the UK. The L380 arrives as the high-end electric MPV segment is starting to heat up, with big rivals such as the Volvo EM90, Mercedes EQV and Maxus Mifa 9 having already gone on sale.
