Range Rover Evoque PHEV interior, dashboard & comfort

The same comfort, luxury and technology found elsewhere in the Range Rover line-up are present in the P300e plug-in hybrid

Modern Land Rover interiors are almost universally designed and finished to a high standard. There's no departing from that trend in the Evoque, which features soft, premium-quality materials in all the right places. The only clue that you're sitting in the P300e version as opposed to one of the mild-hybrid petrol or diesel Evoques is an extra control in the centre console, used for switching between the various drive modes.

Range Rover Evoque PHEV dashboard

The layout of the plug-in hybrid Evoque's dashboard will be familiar to anyone with experience of other modern Land Rover and Range Rover products. There's a large, landscape-orientated infotainment screen in the middle of the dashboard, while (on the R-Dynamic SE trim level and above) more touchscreen controls are flush with the panel further down, above physical knobs for adjusting the climate control.

Equipment, options & accessories

The P300e drivetrain is only available in the more expensive Evoque trim levels: R-Dynamic S, R-Dynamic SE, R-Dynamic HSE, Autobiography and Evoque Edition. The entry-level car comes with a 10-inch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as LED headlights, 18-inch alloys, heated front seats and mirrors and a reversing camera. Stepping up to R-Dynamic SE adds 20-inch alloys, premium LED headlights with automatic high beams, a powered tailgate, the lower touchscreen and an interactive driver’s display.

R-Dynamic HSE builds on the previous levels with 20-inch alloy wheels with diamond-turned finish, Matrix LED headlights, keyless entry, 14-way power adjustment for the front seats, extra leather trim, a Meridian sound system and additional active safety kit, including rear cross-traffic alerts and adaptive cruise control.

The range-topping Autobiography model gets 21-inch alloys, an exterior styling pack, a panoramic roof, red brake calipers, brushed copper Range Rover lettering, a full suite of driver-assistance technology, Windsor leather seat trim, grey ash wood veneer trim and surround-sound audio.

Infotainment, apps & sat nav

First seen on the Land Rover Defender, the British brand's latest infotainment setup goes by the name 'Pivi Pro'. It's a major improvement on previous Jaguar Land Rover efforts in this area, particularly for connectivity and responsiveness. It doesn't quite kick the BMW, Audi or Mercedes infotainment systems into touch, but the Evoque is now at least on par with those brands' in-car technology, instead of lagging badly behind.

The sat nav shows you charging points on a planned route, however it doesn't interface with the car's drivetrain to influence how the energy already in the battery is used in any way. 'Geofencing', or automatically switching the car to electric power when it enters a certain low or zero-emissions zone, is technically possible with the Evoque P300e, but not something that has been implemented just yet.
