Prices for the Honda CR-V Hybrid start from just under £32,000 for the entry-level S trim with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available on SE and SR cars for around £1,000 more, while top-spec EX trim is exclusively all-wheel drive. It's priced competitively with the Toyota RAV4, and Honda typically offers low-interest finance deals that should satisfy most buyers looking for a monthly finance package.

All CR-V Hybrids run 18-inch alloys, so economy and emissions figures are almost identical across the various trim levels. Company-car tax is competitive with many big diesel 4x4s, but the RAV4 is cheaper thanks to its lower CO2 emissions, and Toyota offers a longer warranty.

Honda CR-V Hybrid insurance group

The CR-V sits across several insurance groups, depending on trim level. The front-wheel-drive S and all-wheel-drive SE are in group 22, while the front-wheel-drive SE and all-wheel-drive SR are in group 23. Finally, the front-wheel-drive SR and the all-wheel-drive-only EX are in group 24.

Warranty

The CR-V is covered by Honda’s standard warranty of three years or 90,000 miles – whichever comes first.

Road tax

Road tax (also known as Vehicle Excise Duty, or VED) for the CR-V costs £155 per annum (a £10 discount compared to the rate for a non-hybrid) but the most expensive CR-V has a list price of over £40,000, so you'll pay an extra £355 the first five times you tax it, for a total annual bill of £510 during that period.
