Audi offers all Q7 models with a wide range of safety equipment – which no doubt helped the German SUV achieve a full five-star crash-safety rating from Euro NCAP. Included as standard are driver, front passenger, front side and curtain airbags, as well as electronic stability control, lane-departure warning, traffic-sign recognition, hill-hold assist and pre-sense front (which is Audi’s name for autonomous emergency braking).

Audi Q7 hybrid reliability & problems

The Q7 didn't feature in the 2020 Driver Power owner survey (either as a plug-in hybrid or traditionally fuelled model) but a number of other Audis appeared. For example, the second-generation Q5 SUV came 46th out of 75 cars. As a manufacturer, Audi came 21st out of 30 brands in the Driver Power results, which for a premium brand is a little underwhelming. To add insult to injury, Lexus and Jaguar both finished significantly higher than their German rival – coming first and 12th respectively.

Safety

The crash-test experts at Euro NCAP rate the Audi Q7 quite highly. The independent body awarded the SUV a full five stars out of five thanks to a 92% rating for adult occupant protection, 86% for child occupant protection, 71% for vulnerable road users and 72% for safety assist systems.  To help avoid crashes there are features such as rear cross-traffic alerts, exit warnings (which warn drivers of traffic approaching from the rear when a door is opened and the car is stationary) and collision avoidance assist (which helps reduce the likelihood of a collision). But not all of these features are standard on every trim level.
