Ford Mustang Mach-E interior & comfort
It's not the last word in luxury inside, but the Mach-E does get an interesting interior design and plenty of up-to-date on-board technology
In keeping with the exterior, the inside of the Mustang Mach-E is quite a departure from what we've seen in other Fords to date, with a pretty minimalist approach and the vast majority of functions displayed on one of two large screens. Quality is generally good, if not quite up to the likes of Audi or Mercedes standards.
Ford Mustang Mach-E dashboard
The Mustang Mach-E's dashboard is certainly interesting for anyone who's just stepped out of one of the brand's more conventional family cars, even if it isn't quite as radical as what Tesla has been producing for the past few years. The huge portrait-orientated touchscreen (more on this below) is one Tesla-esque feature, however; it'll certainly be among the first things you notice when you get behind the wheel.
Equipment, options & accessories
There are currently four versions of the electric Mustang to choose from, all pretty well equipped. The rear-drive Standard Range kicks things off at just over £37,000 after the government plug-in car grant has been deducted (or just over £500 per month on a typical three-year PCP finance plan). Standard kit includes 10.2-inch digital instruments, a 15.5-inch vertically orientated infotainment touchscreen, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, 18-inch alloys, a wireless phone charging pad, dual-zone climate control and a reversing camera.
The extra power and grip of the all-wheel-drive version costs just over £43,500 outright and pushes the monthly payment towards £600; this version also ups the wheel size to 19 inches and adds red brake calipers, adaptive LED lights and powered rather than manual seat adjustment up front.
The cheapest Extended Range model is the £46,980 rear-drive model, with monthly payments in the region of £630. As well as the larger battery and longer range, the added kit here also includes a 360-degree camera, panoramic glass roof, 10-speaker Bang&Olufsen stereo and a hands-free powered tailgate. Upgrading this version to four-wheel drive adds a further £185 to the monthly cost.
Infotainment, apps & sat nav
The Mustang Mach-E gets the latest evolution of Ford's 'SYNC' in-car infotainment system. It boasts sharp graphics and a highly configurable 'home' screen, and is generally pretty easy to use. There's also wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, should you prefer to use your own phone apps for music and navigation. Our one gripe is that the big 15.5-inch screen could do with being angled towards the driver, as it can be tricky to see and operate some functions at the bottom of the screen at times.
