New all-terrain Citroen My Ami Buggy Concept unveiled
Rugged version of Citroen’s ultra-compact EV is “the vision of an Ami dedicated to leisure” and could hint at new Ami variants to come
The French brand hasn’t held back in turning its zero-emissions car for the city into something ready and willing to go ‘off the beaten track’. It now features a set of chunky off-road tires, with a spare wheel on top of the panoramic sunroof just in case.
The roof also sports an LED light bar, while the regular headlights are protected from debris by metal bars. At the front, there’s also a bull bar, attached directly to the Ami’s tubular chassis, which could be handy if it gets stuck.
While the exterior is painted khaki green, with matte-black cladding and wheelarch extensions, the interior gets bright yellow upholstery and detailing. There aren’t any doors on the My Ami Buggy Concept, instead it uses rainproof canvas that can be unzipped and removed, which could be helpful if you need to take a better look when tracking any obstacles in your path.
In a node to rallying, the words ‘pilot’ and ‘copilot’ are located above the driver and passenger seats respectively. The My Ami Buggy Concept also uses new Advanced Comfort seat cushions that are twice as thick as those in the regular Ami and can be removed and washed after lengthy expeditions.
There are also several storage bins in the cabin, above which is a matte-gold storage rack to ensure things aren't thrown about. 3D-printed accessories, such as a camera mount and smartphone holder, also feature. Citroen has additionally included a mount to secure a speaker on the dashboard for good measure.
Citroen hasn’t confirmed whether the My Ami Buggy Concept will give rise to an off-road-focused – or even just ruggedly styled – variant of the Ami. However, according to the brand, this concept “illustrates one of the many faces that could be developed for the Ami”, implying that there are more versions of the micro EV to come besides the standard and Cargo models we know are coming to the UK in 2022.
